A CONVENIEN-TLADDER TRUCK.
The illustration herewith is that of a very neat and light fire service two-wheel ladder truck manufactured by the Wirt & Knox Manufacturing company, of Philadelphia. The frames of this truck are of steel tubing, mounted on springs; and there are, besides, fifty-two-inch wood wheels, and are equipped as follows: One extension ladder in three sections of sixteen feet each, rope reel and rope, tool box, front rest, fireman’s axe and crowbar in spring holders, hook and pole, two polished brass fireman’s lanterns in spring holders, and four fire buckets, all handsomely painted and striped. This truck may be equipped with fire extinguishers and placed where the lanterns are shown in the illustration. The Wirt & Knox company manufactures all classes of hose carriages for warehouses and fire department use. An illustrated catalogue showing their different designs and details of construction will prove interesting.
