A CURE FOR BEING LONESOME.
Most young women look to followers or possible husbands as a cure for lonesomeness. A London girl, however, bethought herself of a novel remedy. The New York Press heartily indorses the appeal of New York city’s water commissioner for the repeal of the law which bars Brooklyn borough from the use of the water now going to waste in Suffolk county. The Press calls for the immediate repeal of the Burr law, “especially since the city will pay for all damage, direct and indirect, that any one may suffer by the acquirement of that water supply; and, especially again, since this will remove the last excuse for the monumental folly of the Cut skill scheme, which will spend $200,000,000, as Senator Saxe is proving, without furnishing the water that could lie had much sooner for less than a quarter of that sum.”
