A FIRE-HAUNTED MAN.
James Minor, a wealthy Kentucky bachelor, is literally a fire-haunted man. When a child, Mr. Minor’s mother was accidentally burned to death. At the decease of his father he inherited the homestead farm, the dwelling on which was at that day one of the finest residences in Nelson County, having been erected at a cost of $10,000. It caught fire and was consumed to ashes. He erected a new house at a like cost, only to become in its turn food for the hungry flames. He subsequently engaged in the lumber business, and lost a large end valuable lot of lumber by fire. He then visited his brother, in another county, and in two or three days after his arrival the dwelling of the latter was consumed by fire. He then went to Kan as to visit his stepmother, and while they were conversing about the St ange fatality that seemed ‘o dog him through life, the kitchen of her house burst into flames. Returning to Kentucky and vis’ting at the house of relative in his native county, while the family were discussing his bad luck the kitchen of that h use was also discovered to be on fire. From thence he’proceeded to visit the family of another relative in the same county. A broom in the room was ignited by a spark from the fire, whereupon the young lady of the house remarked that she had left some fire in-the parlor and she believed that she would go and see if everything was right. Opening the parlor door, the apartment was dircovered to be in flames.
