A GENTLE HINT.
The members of the Westminster, England, fire brigade recently adopted a novel method of calling attention to some of their needs, A neat little sketch was shown on the front page of the brigade dinner menu card, and, as Captain Sawyer explained to the members of the city council present, it was designed to illustrate a number of defects needing to be remedied in connection with the brigade. One picture showed a broken hydrant key, which a fireman was vainly endeavoring to use. Another suggested very plainly that the fire station was badly’ in need of new doors.
The appointment of Chief W. C. Van Ness-, of the Ashfield, Mass., fire department, as inspector of that town’s buildings is announced.
