A Half Century in the City Service
Superintendent Jere O’Shaugnessy recently completed the fiftieth year of his service as a member of the water works department of Columbus, Ohio, and the anniversary was made the occasion of general congratulations. Employes in the department presented a beautiful floral piece and $100 in gold, while letters from Mayor Thomas and from Service Director Duffy were read, expressing hearty commendation of Mr. O’Shaugnessy’s unvarying faithfulness to the interests of the city and efficiency in conducting the operations of the water department. The newspaper also gave appreciative notices of Superintendent O’Shaugnessy’s long and competent service. The city of Columbus has recently authorized an extensive program of water works improvements to cost several millions of dollars and as work will begin almost immediately, the veteran superintendent starts his second half century with the prospect of enlarged opportunity for his acknowleged abilities.
