Michael McQuade, wrapping his coat round his head, rushed in amid the flames and rescued a woman from the rear of a burning printing shop, on Second avenue, Manhattan, New York. He then plunged through the fire a second time and found two little children asleep in a crib. He brought them out, one on each arm. Their night clothes were scorched and his hair, whiskers, and clothing were burned, but the three were otherwise unhurt. At the first alarm of fire the husband and father had run out of the house, forgetting his wife and babes!
