A New Chemical and Hose for Herkimer
A new chemical and hose car on a Pierce-Arrow chassis has been recently installed in the fire department of Herkimer, N. Y., according to information received from Arthur T. Clark, superintendent of the water works of that city. The apparatus, which is illustrated herewith, is supplied with the following equipment: one 35-gal. chemical tank; 2 hand extinguishers; 200 feet 3/4″ chemical hose; one 12-foot roof ladder; one 22-foot extension ladder; one piece steel hose box with slat bottom; two woven wire chemical hose and equipment baskets; one electric siren horn; one electric hand searchlight; one 30,000 C. P. electric flood lamp; one quickhitch coupling; two gate valves; two Grether shut-off nozzles; and two standard Underwriters’ play pipes. Besides the foregoing the car is furnished with over-size truck tires and heavy wheels for the rear end. It also carries 900 feet of standard 2 1/2″ fire hose.
