A Shreveport Invention.
Captain Joliff, of the Shreveport, La., Fire Department, has invented a small piece of machinery which is attached to the automobile chemical engine and with the gong. When the gong taps it throws the engine of the automobile into immediate motion, and all that remains to be done is for the firemen to pile in and rush out. There is no cranking or sparking necessary. As soon as the gong strikes, the engine in the auto begins action at once. The chauffeur jumps in and throws the lever connecting the driving gear, and out they whiz. Captain Joliff has even arranged a plug in the floor, so that when the car starts it throws down the appliance and disconnects the wires automatically, so that no time is lost at this.
