A TRINITY OF COMPANIES.
The water supply of Youngstown, Ohio, is threatened with absorption by three separate companies. The city, therefore, is facing a serious condition on account of the number of corporations that are securing control of the water source. The Mahoning Water company has Yellow creek, east of the city; another company of Cleveland men has an option on Squaw creek: and options are being secured on land about Mosquito creek, all emptying into the Mahoning above the place where the city secures its supply These had been counted on as future sources; but it looks as though the city was tip against a corner in the water supply.
At South Boston an incendiary two-alarm fire destroyed the premises of the one-and-one-halfstory building of P. Corcoran & Sons’ packing case factory—the sixth fire in two years. When the department arrived, both floors in the vicinity of the offices were enveloped by flames. The night watchman had gone through the building a short time before and found everything secure and no lights burning. The falling in of the roof caused severe injuries to the officers and members of ladder company No. 5 and the night watchman. The horses in the stable and the wagon, with the books, were saved by the watchman.
