Additional Convention Notes
For the first time in the history of the association it had a presiding officer in military uniform. Mayor Leisen, the president. being present on Wednesday. It was typical of the interest shown by water works men in the war.
Many of the ladies present on Thursday went on an automobile ride around St. Louis, starting from the convention headquarters. This was by courtesy of the Local Entertainment Committee.
By courtesy of the Water Works Manufacturers’ Association an informal dance was held in the evening at the Planters Hotel. This was held in the main dining room and the dancing was interspersed with singing.
On Wednesday evening there was a theatre party for the ladies, while for the men there was a smoker and cabaret at the American Annex Hotel. Both were largely attended.
The new well has been completed at the Harvard, Neb., water works and work started on another one. The new wells will give Harvard a large supply of water.
