Aircraft and Airports
Speed of operations and efficiency are recognized as essential in the fire service, but in aircraft and airport fire fighting they are an absolute must. Here, speed is judged in seconds, rather than minutes, and a few seconds can mean the difference between life and death for many persons. Obsolete apparatus or those not designed for airfields can also be a factor in determining success or failure of operations in this area.
FIRE ENGINEERING recognizes this problem in the April issue which has Aircraft and Airport Fire Fighting as its theme. Articles will be featured on the latest equipment, installations and techniques used to combat perhaps the most dramatic and dreadful of the work fire fighters are called to do. FIRE ENGINEERING makes no claim that it will resolve every problem in this field, but we feel that the issue will provide useful information for all readers.
