AN EXHIBIT OF SAFETY APPLIANCES.
A notable exhibit at the Exposition of safety appliances now being held at the Museum of Natural History, New York city, is that of S. F. Hayward & Co., 20 Warren street, New York city. Among the many devices shown by this company are a variety of Glazier swiveling nozzles for fire department, factory, and interior use; also Wilson automatic portable fire escapes in the various sizes which, although they are in extensive use all over the country, seem to have attracted as much attention as though shown for the first time. It is reported that 273 descents were made in eight hours for the instruction of visitors. There are also shown smoke and ammonia-proof helmets, patent respirators, chemical tire extinguishers, chemical fire engines for volunteer fire departments, factory and warehouse protection, country estates, etc. Samples of the Hayward life net, scaling ladders, etc., are also on exhibition. The exhibit received very gratifying recommendation and has aroused widespread interest.
The new waterworks system for Bovey, Minn, has been completed.
