Features/Equipment:

  • Saber chassis with a 222-inch wheelbase and a 10-inch raised-roof cab with eight seats;
  • CUMMINS ISL 9 450-hp diesel engine with an ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • 20½-foot nonwalk-in body with GORTITE roll-up compartment doors;
  • extended front bumper with two HANNAY hydraulic reels for TNT rescue tools and controls to turn on generator and quad pump;
  • WARN 4½-ton portable winch with four receivers;
  • four cylinder 6,000-psi air cascade system;

The department covers large stretches of U.S. Route 31 and miles of Lake Michigan’s dunes and beaches. The unit responds to fires; medical calls; motor vehicle accidents; and technical, water, and dive emergencies.
