Estimated dollar losses caused by fire in the United States dropped to $169,907,000 in April, the National Insurance Actuarial and Statistical Association reported.

This was a decrease of 13.9 percent under the April 1968 figure of $197,252,000 and 2.3 percent below the March 1969 total of $173,913,000.

These losses include an allowance for uninsured and unreported losses. NIASA noted that its estimates of fire losses do not include forest fires, automobile fires and other occurrences of the kind not usually covered by fire insurance policies.

Estimated dollar losses caused by fires in the United States totaled $123,590,000 in April, the American Insurance reported.

This was a decrease of 3.8 percent under $128,484,000 for April 1965 and a decrease of 7.3 percent under $133,358,000 for March 1966

Estimated fixe losses were $508,443,000 for the first four months of 1966, compared with $516,406,000 in the like four months last year a decrease of 1.5 percent.
