AQUEDUCTCONTRACT NOT AWARDED.
The aqueduct commissioners and the ex-officio members of the commission met in secret session on Wednesday last to award the contract for the construction of the Jerome Park reservoir. There were eighteen bids, the lowest of which, $5,297,370, was made by John O’Brien. John McDonald came next, with a bid of $5,473,060, and Andrew Onderdonk was the next lowest bidder, at $5,492,620. Chief Engineer Fetley’s estimate of the expense of the work was $5,882,690. No award was made, the meeting being postponed till next Wednesday, when it is expected the matter will be finally decided. There seems to be no obligation on the commissioners to accept the lowest bid.
