Argentine Fire Fighters Due
Ten fire fighters from the Argentine Republic left their home towns January24 on a “good will trip” to the United States.
Driving two 30-year-old pieces of apparatus, their plans call for motoring to Chile and up the Pacific Coast to Buenaventura, Columbia. From there, if all goes well, they plan to go by ship to Panama, thence through Central America. They hope to reach Washington in about three months.
The firemen are members of the volunteer brigade in the La Boca suburb of Buenos Aires. Their leader, Lieutenant Luis Baragli, said: “Our trip has only one aim—to fraternize with the different fire corps of the Western Hemisphere and to know each other better.”
