ASA Hose Thread Committee Meets
The Sectional Committee, B2, Pipe and Hose Coupling Threads, American Standards Association, met at the United Engineering Center, New York City, during October. The committee, sponsored by the American Gas Association and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and charged with the task of reaffirming or revising the American Standard published as B26-1925 National (American) Standard Fire Hose Coupling Screw Threads, is chainnanned by I. H. Fulmer, National Bureau of Standards, Department of Commerce.
A subcommittee, No. 7, was organized to study the standard. Chainnanned by Warren Y. Kimball, National Fire Protection Association, with K. E. Rearick, Wooster Brass Co., as secretary, the group has determined that revision is necessary and that additional hose sizes should be included. Task groups were appointed to take up sizes, tolerances, gages, and editing. The subcommittee will meet this spring. Representing the International Association of Fire Chiefs on the committee and subcommittee is Battalion Chief Robert Ely, chairman of the IAFC Committee on Standardization of Fire Hose Threads.
