Washington, D.C. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) have announce Round 13 of the 2002 Assistance to Firefighter Grant Awards for 32 fire departments. The monetary investment announced in this round approaches exceeds $2 million for fire departments throughout the United States.
“We anticipate this round to be the last announcement for the 2002 program. We will in coming weeks announce the Prevention and Fire Safety awards. Workshops for the 2003 program are starting, and our focus now moves to the 2003 program,” USFA Administrator R. David Paulison said.
These funds will be used by the nation’s firefighters to increase the effectiveness of firefighting operations, improve firefighter health and safety programs, purchase new fire apparatus, enhance EMS programs, and support Fire Prevention and Safety Programs.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the United States. A list of all current award recipients announced to date is posted at www.usfa.fema.gov/grants.
