Award for Death of Chief
Payment of $6,000 by the Empire Realty Corporation, of Bridgeport, Conn., terminated the $50,000 damage action resulting from the death of Fire Chief Martin J. Hayden, of Bridgeport. Trial of the action in Superior Court concluded on Feb. 24 as a result of the settlement.
Chief Hayden was injured fatally in a fall on Dec. 6, 1952, while directing fire fighters battling a blaze in a condemned tenement building in Bridgeport, owned by the Empire Corporation. Suit was by Lillian E. Hayden, widow of Chief Hayden and executrix of his estate.
