Berkshire County Chiefs Organize

At a meeting of the Berkshire Fire Chiefs at Pittsfield Central Fire Station, December 12. Chief H. A. Jones, of Adams, was unanimously elected president, and Chief Oscar R. Hutchinson, of Lenox, secretary. It was voted that the organization be known as The Berkshire County Fire Chiefs’ Club; that the meetings be held on the sacond Saturday of the month; that refreshment arrangements be left to the chief of the visited town, and that each chief pay his share of the expenses of the same There were discussions of chimney fires and systems of extinguishment, and in regard to helping other towns in emergencies. The club will have a list of honorary members, and Clarence N. Sylvester, of Lawrence, Mass., was elected an honorary member. There was also a discussion in regard to securing information about available assistance in the form of apparatus and hose from private plants in each chief’s town. The next meeting will be held in Lee, Saturday, Jan. 9, 1915. The members present were: Chief John Norton, of Great Barrington; Chief George Boardman, of Lee; Chief W. C. Shepard, of Pittsfield; Chief Amedeo Remillald, of Williamstown; Chief Henry Montgomery, of North Adams; Chief O. R. Hutchinson, of Lenox; Chief John Hardiman, of Dalton: Chief H. A. Jones, of Adams, and Assistant Engineer George A. Reynolds, of Cheshire.
