The drillmaster of a West Coast volunteer fire department recently wrote to us that “the responsible members of the . . . department have, for some time past, been keeping a rather close analysis on the format and content of various periodicals dealing with the suppression of fire. It is our opinion that FIHE ENGINEERING best affords the qualities in this periodical that we are seeking, and we would appreciate your sending to us the necessary information for entering a subscription . .
Naturally, we rejoice in this most recent tribute to FIRE ENGINEERING’S continued leadership in the fire service. It is another example that the slogan which appears on our cover, “The Journal of the Fire Protection Profession since 1877,” is not an empty Ixiast.
Often we have heard veteran chiefs describe FIRE ENGINEERING as “The Bible of the Fire Service.” They have told us that from their early days in the service they have read it faithfully and credit their advancement, in part, to it. Every publisher prizes most highly the accolades of those for whom he is publishing—his readers or potential readers. That is why we appreciate equally an informal letter from the drillmaster of a West Coast volunteer fire department.
