Asbury Park, N. J., was delivered last week into possession of 8,000 firemen, who went there from all over the state and from New York and Pennsylvania, to take part in the first firemen’s parade and tournament of state-wide proportions that Asbury Park has ever attempted. More than 80 companies inarched to the music of more than 30 bands and accompanied by an equal number of apparatus. The parade was reviewed by ex-Chief Croker, of the New York fire department, and ex-Chief D. C. Benedict, of the Newark department; Mayor R. S. Bennett and other city officials.
