Boston Fire Department Baseball Team. Fire Commissioner Glynn and Chief Taber Are Seated in Second Row from Top

The Boston, Mass., fire department baseball team expects to play games in the near future with the New York and Philadelphia fire department baseball teams and efforts are being made to arrange for a game with the Chicago fire department team. Edward J. Powers, of Hook & Ladder Company 8, Fort Hill Square, Boston, is business manager of the Boston team; Henry Wells is manager, and Theodore Muir is captain.

Captain “Billy” Southworth, of the Boston National League Baseball Club, has acted as coach for the firemen who have developed a fast fielding and hard hitting outfit and are ready to meet all comers for the championship of the fire department field.

Gorgan, LF., Ladder 20; Clark, S.S., Engine 5; McQuarrie, sub, Engine 24; Robert Brennan, IB., Engine 4; J. J. McDermott, P., engine 36; T. Flaherty, C., Engine 8; John Devine, R.F., Ladder 4; Edward Sproul, 2B„ Engine 37; Paul Howard, C.F., Engine 38-39, and Thomas Cavanagh, sub, Engine 20.

The team defeated Mt. Hope 8 to 4, Brookline Fire Department 13 to 6, Pere Marquette Council, K. of C. 7 to 6; Harbor Lights 15 to 8, and Mahoney Post 8 to 1, and was beaten by Dorchester by the score of 7 runs to 5.
