Boston, Mass., Enumerates Runs
District No. Nine of the Boston Fire Department, which is located in Roxbury, Mass., established what is probably a record for the entire country by responding to 1,650 alarms during the year. District No. 8, Boston, Mass., was second with 1,509 responses. Rescue Company No. 2 had a record of 1,381 runs, which is more than any company in Boston has ever responded to. The last alarm of the old year was at 11:56 p. m. and the first alarm of the new year was at 1:21 a. m. The latter was a long time in arriving, but was followed immediately by a number of others.
