Bungalow Stations of Los Angeles

Bungalow Stations of Los Angeles

The following illustrations of two of the bungalow fire stations and a typical floor plan of this new type of fire station which is the favored style of architecture for the residential districts, was furnished by R. J. Scott, chief engineer, of the Los Angeles, Cal., fire department.

The heating plant and the hose tower are located at the rear of the station. An interesting feature of the design is the apparatus room with plenty of light provided by means of a skylight. Access to the apparatus may be gained from the locker room, dormitory, the fire alarm apparatus room and the parlor. All of the rooms have ample light and ventilation from the large number of windows. The scale of the floor plan drawing is almost one-sixteenth of an inch to the foot.
