Canadian Pumper Test Change

Canadian Pumper Test Change

The fire department pumper testing and listing program has been discontinued by the Canadian Underwriters’ Association because of the increasing load of this free service for Canadian cities and towns. Consultations with the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs and the Association of Canadian Fire Marshals preceded the decision, which was delayed until Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada Ltd. established a pumper test certification service as a replacement. The new service is similar to that operating in the United States and is on a cost basis with testing performed at the manufacturing plant.

The UL of Canada recently published a “Guide for Listing and Labelling of Fire Department Pumpers,” which explains the new service. Free copies may be obtained from Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada, 7 Crouse Road, Scarborough Ontario.
