Charge for Fire Runs Outside Milwaukee Raised

The charge for fire runs to places outside the city limits of Milwaukee, Wis., has been raised from $50 per hour to $150 for te first hour and $100 per hour thereafter in order to meet the cost of fire runs to these places. This fact is referred to in a report including the report of the common council of Milwaukee for 1921, just issued. According to Chief Thomas A. Clancy of the fire department, “adjoining municipalities which desire this service are required to keep a deposit of $300 in the city’s treasury to insure prompt payment of bills. No charge is made for repairs to injured apparatus or to cover hospital expenses of firemen injured.”

The new chief of the Hudson, N. Y., fire department is Gordon Petry, who assumed command of the department on January 1. At the same time Milton Van Hoesen became first assistant chief and Edgar Smith second assistant chief.
