Chester County, Pa., Firemen Meet
The Chester County Firemen’s Association held one of its largest meetings on June 13 at Kennet’s Square, Phoenixville, the event being combined with a housing celebration of new apparatus by the Union Fire Company, of Kennett, on the occasion of the opening of the company’s new home.
More than twenty-five Phoenixville firemen attended and invited the county fire fighters to visit that city on the afternoon of Friday, July 2, to witness the exhibition by the firemen’s life saving corps of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. It is the first time this well known organization has ever performed in the county and upwards of a thousand visiting firemen are expected to be present.
Speakers at the housing were Burgess Guy T. Holcomb, of Oxford; District Attorney Harris L. Sproat, of West Chester; County Fire Marshall Frank E. Soule, of Coatesville; Burgess J. K. Evans, of Malvern, who has almost fully recovered from recent injuries sustained in a fall from a ladder; Chief William Lutz, of Wilmington. Del., and Mavor A. H. Swing. of Coatesville.
