Chicago Defeats Two-Platoon System
The voters of Chicago, Ill., on April 6 defeated the propostion to establish the twoplatoon system in the fire department of that city by over 35,000 votes. At the same election a proposition to issue $663,000 bonds for the erection of new fire stations was carried by a substantial vote. Firemen in the city were divided on the subject of the adoption of the system. The two-platoon proposition aroused more interest than any of the other propositions submitted to the voters. All the other propositions, bond issues, were carried.
