Chief Cornelius Casey Retires

Chief Cornelius A. Casey, who has been head of the Troy, New York, Fire Department for a quarter of a century, has retired from the Department.

Chief Casey was a volunteer of the old Osgood Steamer Company, now Pumper No. 3, for many years, and later became captain of the Arba Read Engine Company. In this capacity he was severely injured in the Mohican store fire in April, 1917, and was made a battalion chief while still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. In May, 1918, he was named chief and acted in that capacity until his retirement.
