CHIEF EATON’S JUBILEE.

CHIEF EATON’S JUBILEE.

Yesterday Chief Henry T. Eaton, of Hartford, Conn., completed the fiftieth year of his connection with the fire department of that city, during thirty-three years of which period he has been its head. To mark their appreciation of his services, and to make his jubilee a conspicuous feature in the history of Hartford, its mayor and council presented him with a purse of $500 in ten-dollar gold pieces, each coin representing one year’s service, after which there was a parade and review of the department and a banquet. Chief Eaton’s reputation stands high as a faithful official and a fearless firefighter, who well deserves all the honors his fellow citizens can shower upon him.
