Chief Hobson, Winston-Salem, Dead
William G. Hobson, Chief of Winston-Salem, N. C., died while on duty at the headquarters station.
He had been head of the department for six years, succeeding the late Harry Nissen. He became a fireman in 1912 and worked his way up to Lieutenant, to Captain and then to Chief.
M. G. Brown, Assistant Chief, has been named Acting Chief. He joined the department the same year as the late Chief Hobson. On January 1, 1915, he was made Lieutenant and on January 1, 1924, Captain. He was appointed Assistant Chief on December 1, 1932.
