Chief Monroe Asks Court for Reinstatement
Chief John H. Monroe, who was recently removed from the position of chief of the Savannah, Ga., fire department by the City Council of that city, as told in a recent issue of FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING, has applied to the. Superior Court, asking that he be reinstated and put back on the payroll. According to reports from Savannah he says in his petition that he was removed without due cause and contrary to the state laws. The chief contends that while the matter is before the courts he should be holding his office and he presented to the mayor a letter in which he stated he was advised that he was illegally ousted and asking for reinstatement and that he be allowed to perform his duties.
