Chief Nevins to Retire.

The early retirement of Chief Thomas Nevins from the Brooklyn Department is announced. He will be placed on the pension roll and receive half pay, He has been chief of the department since 1870.

The Artesian Well Company at Eddy, Tex., is busy laying pipes and putting in hydrants in all houses and some in the neighborhood. The well also affords water for a large amount of stock, those on the range and those being fed at Bruceville oil mill.

The annual meeting of the stockholders of The Spectator Company will be held at the offices of the company, No. 95 William street, New York city, on Thursday, January 25, 1894, at 12 o’clock, noon, for the election of directors and the transaction of such other business as may come before them.
