Chief of York, Pa., Injured in Fire

A fire which destroyed a garage and planing mill in the heart of York, Pa., caused the injury of Chief Edgar C. Landes and a volunteer fireman.

A garage mechanic was cleaning a car with gasoline, when it exploded. He sounded the fire alarm and every company in York was called. Before companies from neighboring suburbs could respond, the fire spread to a nearby planing mill. Eighteen autos were destroyed in the fire.
