Chief Quinn of Martinsburg Dead
Martin L. Quinn, Chief of Martinsburg. W. Va., Fire Department for twenty-one years, died at his home following a heart attack. He nearly reached his fiftieth birthday.
He joined the department of January 17, 1906 and was one of the first three paid members. Two years later he resigned and became a member of the Alliance, Ohio, department. He returned to Martinsburg and was made Assistant Chief. In 1913 he was advanced to Chief. This position he held continuously until his death.
Chief Quinn was one of the organizers of the West Virginia Fire Chiefs’ Association. He was completing his third consecutive term as President. In 1926 he served as President of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
He was a graduate of the New York Fire College, and was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
Chief Quinn is survived by his widow, one daughter, one son, one brother and two sisters.
