Clothes Lines Hamper Boston Firemen
A new obstacle has developed in the work of the firemen. At Boston, Mass., when the men were called to fight a fire, much valuable time was lost when the men had to stop and cut the lines before they could raise their ladders.
The lines were strung parallel to the building. Had they been placed at right angles to the building, which is the proper construction, the men could have placed the ladders between the lines, and they would not have lost valuable time.
