Columbus (IN) Firemen’s Cheer Fund Ride Fast Approaching

The Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund Ride will be held Saturday August 22. The one hundred mile ride begins and ends in the Fourth Street area of downtown Columbus, kickstands up at 9:30 a.m. At the end of the ride there will be a block party, a chance to win a $500 gift card from Mann’s Harley Davidson and a Hoosier Thunder Run Ride Stop. The cost for the ride is $20 for a single rider and $30 for a rider with passenger. All proceeds support the efforts of the 2015 Firemen’s Cheer Fund Campaign.

Since 1930 the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund has used donations from citizens and corporate partners to bring hope and joy to less fortunate families during the holidays. Additionally, Cheer Fund donations have been used to ensure homes are equipped with working smoke detectors.

The Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund is coordinated through the efforts of the City of Columbus Firemen, with assistance from a volunteer Board of Directors. Each year it depends on volunteer contributions from the public to reach a monetary goal for the purchase of new toys and food for underprivileged children in Bartholomew County.

Even if you’re not a motorcycle rider the public is encouraged to make donations to help the organization reach their fund raising goal. Residents can also bring used toys to fire stations to be refurbished and distributed during the holiday season. Also, the Cheer Fund depends on the public in helping with toy sorting, boxing, and delivering food baskets, toys and clothes.
