Company Ordered to Make Improvements
The Public Service Commission of Pennsylvania, as a result of complaints filed by the boroughs of Sharon and Farrell, has directed the Sharon Water Works Company to make a number of improvements in its plant. The company must complete the erection of a new pump and the installation of a 24-inch main within thirty days; make all necessary repairs to the present pumping unit, boilers, etc.; make an examination of the entire distribution system and repairs necessary so that the system can withstand the pressure needed to keep the storage reservoir full of water; furnish a sufficient and adequate supply of water to the high districts in Sharon and Farrell, and study the entire system with a view to the division of the present system into low and high districts in order to enable a more adequate service.
The commissioners of Red Bank, N. J., have been considering getting an additional water supply and would like to utilize a deep well drilled several years ago, if a filtration method can be found that will reduce the excessive iron content that makes the water unusable.
