Convention and Tournament of Utah Firemen

Convention and Tournament of Utah Firemen

The Utah State Firemen’s Association held its annual convention and tournament in Logan, Utah, on August 13 to 15, there being nearly 500 members present. The address of welcome was by Mayor John A. Crockett and a memorial address was delivered at 2 o’clock in the afternoon of the first day by Rev. Harris Pillsbury.

At the business session besides the president’s address, there were papers on fighting of electrical fires and on fire protection. At 4 p. m. on August 14, the convention was taken on a trip through Logan canyon and at 6 p. m. a luncheon was served at the Utah Agricultural College. The day closed with a street dance at 9 p. m.

On August 15, a tournament was held including athletic sports, hose and coupling contest, laddermen’s contests, races, etc. The parade had to be abandoned on account of the inability of many of the firemen to reach Logan on account of blocked roads.
