Convention of Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Club
The annual convention of the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Club was held at the Shawnee Hotel, Springfield, Ohio, on June 8, 9 and 10. Chief Samuel F. Hunter of the fire department of Springfield, Ohio, was re-elected president at the closing session. The club voted to hold the next convention at Youngstown, Ohio, the date selected being June 8. 9 and 10, 1921. In this connection Sandusky, Ohio, withdrew its invitation to the club to hold its next convention in that city and supported Youngstown in appreciation of the services of Chief Philip J. Harty, of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company’s plant department, who has served the club so long as secretary and treasurer and who declined re-election to that office. Chief E. J. Davis, of the B. F. Goodrich Company’s plant department, Akron, Ohio, was elected secretary and treasurer for the ensuing year, The other officers elected were: First vice-president, Chief John C. Mack, Lima; second vice-president, Chief Samuel Butler, Republic Iron and Steel Company, Youngstown. Ohio; directors, Capt. J. J. Conway, Cincinnati superintendent, Salvage Corps; Chief M. H. Van Dervoot, International Harvester Company, Springfield, Ohio.
