Danville, Pa., Chief Given Salary Increase

At a recent meeting of the city council of Danville, Va., the fire committee reported that the city had grown to sufficient size to demand the entire time of the chief of the fire department, and recommended that his salary be placed at $1,200 a year. The recommendation carried with it the giving to the chief, or any of his assistants, authority to enter at any time buildings in the business district for the purpose of inspection to ascertain if there were any impediments to the firemen in case of a fire, and to inspect the storage of inflammable material. The report was adopted.
