Daytona Fire Fighter Places in ARCA 200
Fire Fighter Terry Link, a member of the Daytona Beach Fire Department, drove his 1972 Grand National Pontiac to a 7th place finish in the ARCA 200 on February 10 at the Daytona International Speedway. The car is co-sponsored by Local 1162, International Association of Fire Fighters, and the City of Daytona Beach.
Link, a veteran dirt tracker, drove a smooth race after qualifying in excess of 171 mph on his first attempt on a super speedway. He also qualified for the Daytona 500, but relinquished his starting position so that another driver, who failed to qualify, could participate in it.
Along with his father, Mike Link, and Daytona Beach Mayor Richard Kane, Link’s crew consisted of fellow fire fighters Sam Roberts, Corbett Branson, Peter Giroux, and crew chief Danny Wisham. Rounding out a group effort and paying special attention to No. 66 were the remaining offoffrduty members of the department, who man the fire trucks at the speedway.
