Deputy Chief Burns, New York City, Retires

Deputy Chief John J. Burns, of the fourth division of the New York City fire department, according to Special Order No. 53 issued from Chief Kenlon’s office, was retired on April 15 on an annual pension of $2,750.

Deputy Chief Burns will be given a testimonial dinner on Monday evening, May 7, at Healy’s Restaurant, 66th Street and Columbus Avenue, by his friends in the department. Dr. Harry M. Archer, honorary medical officer of the department, has been selected as chairman of the dinner committee, the other members of the committee being Assistant Chief Joseph B. Martin, Battalion Chief William Clark, Battalion Chief James Langan (retired), Honorary Deputy Chief William F. Kenny, Honorary Deputy Chief Robert H. Mainzer, Honorary Battalion Chief M. F. Loughman, Louis Bamberger, Manfred L. Neumoegen, Max Bamburger and former State Senator James A. Thompson, of Brooklyn.
