Deputy Chief Carlson to Retire

Deputy Chief Albert B. Carlson of the New York City Fire Department, who has been in command of the Marine Division since January 1, 1938, will retire from service on September 16.

Chief Carlson joined the department on November 1, 1917, and since then has received six separate citations for conspicuous service and was awarded the Bennett medal.

He was promoted to lieutenant in 1925, captain in 1928, chief of battalion in 1934 and then to deputy chief. He is in command of ten fireboats, including the “Fire Fighter.”
