Disastrous Explosion and Fire at Haileybury
On October 24 the Energite Explosives Company’s factory at Ha_____eybury, Ont., caught fire and an explosion of gunpowder followed, which wrecked the factory and caused the death of five men, fatally injured a woman, very seriously hurt four men, and caused more or less serious injuries to many others, besides damaging thousands of dollars’ worth of property. The cause of the fire is never likely to be known, as those who were likely to be able to tell were killed.
