A type C. H.-60-4 motor combination chemical and hose car, illustrated on this page, has been delivered by the South Bend Motor Car Works, South Bend. Ind., through its Eastern agent, Walter M. Heller, to the city of New York for use on Blackwell’s Island. The speed of this machine is 10 to 45 miles per hour. Other features are: Wheel base. 140 inches; capacity, 1,200 feet of 2 1/2-inch rubber-lined hose; wheels, artillery type, made of selcctced hickory; ignition, Bosch, dual system; starting, two unit system, starting from flywheel ; gasoline system, South Bend, Stewart vacuum feed from 25-gallon tank; tires, U. S. solid tires; lighting system, two 10-inch electric head lights, one electric tail light; alarm devices, Interstate Machine Co. hand operated siren; chemical tank car, one 40-gallon Champion or Holloway type, pebbled ends; chemical hose, 250 feet of 3/4-inch four-ply chemical hose; acid receptacles, two; acid receptacle holders, one; extinguishers, two 3-gallon Babcock extinguishers, N. Y. F. D. Standard; ladders, one 20-foot extension ladder, solid side, one 12-foot roof ladder, solid side, with folding hooks: lanterns, four Dietz fire department standard; crow bar, one, held by snaps; axe, one; pike pole, one; tool box, one; tools, one complete set including necessary tire tools; battery box, one; carrying capacity, seven men.
