“Economy” Hits Youngstown
Following the defeat of a proposed 2.5-mill operating levy at the city’s May 4 election, police and fire protection in Youngstown, Ohio, has been sharply curtailed, and other municipal services trimmed heavily.
According to a statement by Mayor Charles P. Henderson, quoted in the press, five of the city’s 12 fire stations were to be closed, effective May 16.
