Effort to Cut Water Expenses at Baltimore.
At Baltimore an effort is being made to cut expenses in the water department. Two lines will be investigated. One line will be the employes and the other material used. Under the later head an estimate of $29,755 has been named as necessary for sundries. This will be gone over carefully. As to the amount paid employes it is as follows:
Water Engineer Quick believes that his esti’mate for the year of $91,720 for salaries, $280,000 for wages of laborers and $317,205 for material is only conservative, and he will endeavor to substantiate his view as he goes over the matter with the investigators.
