Ex-Chief Peter J. Williams Dead
Ex-Chief Peter J. Williams, who was head of the Quincy, Mass., department for many years, died at his home in that city on October 21, after an illness of long duration. He was born in Quincy in 1856, and when in his youth became a member of hand engine Tiger 2 Company. Later he was district chief of Ward 3 for five years, and in 1894 he was appointed chief of the department. He was injured a number of times during his years of service as chief. He retired in 1912.
